No more sputtering/cutting out! alright, after checking this site and gadget's... i think it's the idle control solenoids making all that racket. no backfiring, just a complete stall with the tank lights (fi, battery) all blinking on, then it would catch again and run ok. it didn't seem to matter what gear i was in, or what the rpms were - it would just cough, sputter, then recover. If the voltage is below 9.6 the battery is faulty and must be replaced. the other odd thing is that i only got 34mpg on my first tank - all the literature says i should be getting in the 40's - and i'm not a throttle-happy driver!
