There also seemed to be some detachment from the subject; as you know Kinsey often has a rapid internal monologue that ties things together by leaps and bounds. In the car Kinsey doesn’t let them intimidate her and keeps asking them questions about the alleged burglary. Grrr.
P is for puzzled, as I think most fans will be when they reach the end of this book. Sue Grafton is my very favorite poet. Characterisations perfect and utterly believable. This is not the case of a story left hanging so that there can be a sequel, the narrrative just ends without a real tying up of the story threads. All of the cases in this book.

I chuckled where one reviewer said they went to the bookstore to check if they were missing THE last chapter.

Jumbled. The man escapes, but when Kinsey calls the cops, they manage to stop and arrest him.The following day she gets a weird note from Mariah Talbot, apologising for not having a conscience. Writing styles have changed a LOT since the 40’s, but fun to read and see a little bit where Kinsey came from, and where Sue got her talent!
In this book Kinsey seemed bored herself with the investigation, it seemed she was frustrated and giving a half-hearted attempt at solving the crime. Nothing made too much sense. She herself is a unique character. I purchased the Kindle edition and feel I've been cheated. Weird stories all mixed in together.
