There are many, many spoilers in my review, but it set my teeth on edge knowing O’Neal is an award-winning author who has gained her following with clumsy writing. Amazing story, solid mystery (though some of it becomes obvious earlier than the actual reveal). Her very ordered life as an ER doctor is thrown off balance in a good way.

Josie Bianci was killed years ago on a train during a terrorist attack.

I was pretty disappointed in the author's choice to use such descriptive wording and details of immorality along with drug and alcohol abuse. They will have to share all of them in order to move on and fix the broken relationships. The setting of the book was fantastic, from the beaches of Santa Cruz to the beauty of New Zealand. I would be saddened to discover that any author threw just anything out into the world because they could get away with it and still be published.I hadn’t thought of it that way, Sarah.
