Never regretted it. I thought the 20 ET was too big the first time I got aboard. Raider has a local dealer in Portland with a Suzuki tech in the shop. I tried to talk myself into a hewescraft being when I ordered my alumaweld it was a 6month wait. Good luck. I'm looking at Hewescraft, Northriver, Norhwest boats, ALUMAWELD, Allied and River Hawk all in the 22' range w/soft top and 220/225 Honda or Yamaha. I have a 90HP Honda and that's plenty of power. Aluminum was created to make beer cans....not boats! Upgraded from a smaller smokercraft in early 2010 and was going back and forth between Hewescraft and Alumaweld. Fish the Columbia, all the way out to Square 72 Neah bay for halibut and everywhere in between. The Hewes has served him well for a number of years now but if the price is close to the same I think you will find the fit and finish on the Alumaweld quite a bit better. Skip the jonesin for just 2ft and a hardtop cabin.I agree that used is the way to go. Look into the Raider Boats. much better boat Things like lockable storage, down rigger brackets, two batteries, kicker motor and electric, live well or built a in ice chest. Just wondering. Based on your question I will not bring up other manufactures. They both have plus's and minus's. My north River would seat 2, my duck will seat 6. that will last you a lot longer.

Good luck. im pretty sure the 18&20ft hewescraft sportsman only come with a 20" transom. Nicer inside than most, welds are perfect. I hate the trailer, it doesn't match the boat and after years of tweaking it the trailer works but still isn't perfect.

Hewes is 10 degrees compared to 14 on the Stryker. I looked at and priced a Hewes today equipped how I want it. One last thing for you, I wash mine down, engine and boat inside and out, when I have had it in the salt water as they last longer and look nicer much much longer. If you buy an Alumaweld be sure to look closely at the welds. All three have been great without any problems. I recommend getting a sea runner if you go with Hewes. I also really like the standard top they use on the Hewescraft as I can stand up while at the helm without hunching over.
