The main character, the titular Merlin Jones, is some sort of teen prodigy. In this Disney family film, brainy college student Merlin Jones invents a mind-reading machine, but the consequences of its use prove to be a lot of trouble. When the police won't listen, Merlin teams up with his girlfriend (Annette Funicello), and the two manage to sneak into the judge's house looking for evidence of criminal behavior.
